Building a Better Gloucester
One Data Point at a Time
Whether we’ve been here for generations or we’re new to Cape Ann, we share a common goal: we want a city where our schools thrive, our teachers can afford to live, and our community remains vibrant and accessible.
The Vision:
In 2026, the challenges facing coastal cities like ours are more complex than ever. From the “fiscal cliff” of expiring federal funds to a housing market that is moving faster than we can keep up with, the “old ways” of doing things are being tested everywhere.
This is a space for us to explore modern solutions together.
What I’m Doing Here:
I’m a resident interested in public policy and data. I spend a lot of time looking at how other communities around the country, facing the same hurdles we are, are finding success. My goal is to share those bright spots here so we can talk about them as a community.
Every post will focus on one specific idea, grounded in three things:
A Shared Challenge: Something we all want to fix (like attendance or teacher retention).
A Proven Model: A look at a city or school district that is seeing real results.
The Local Adaptation: A thoughtful look at how we might make that work right here in Gloucester.
A Collaborative Approach:
It’s about expanding our toolkit. Our city leaders have a massive job, and as a community, we can support them by bringing fresh research and diverse perspectives to the table.
I hope you’ll join me. Let’s look at the data, learn from our neighbors, and build a Gloucester that works for everyone.
